Mount Aloysius College
Established in 1853, Mount Aloysius is a liberal arts and science-based
institution with a commitment to career-directed study. Rooted in
Catholic tradition, Mount Aloysius is one of the nation’s 16 Mercy
sponsored colleges. MAC began as an Academy and has evolved into a
comprehensive college which provides undergraduate and graduate
education.
Academic
Programs
Mount Aloysius College offers five programs of study within its
graduate school. Each program offers a unique educational and career
opportunity for professionals and is designed to accommodate the needs of the
full-time or part-time learner. Students
enrolled in graduate programs at Mount Aloysius College come from diverse
academic and professional backgrounds.
Master of Business
Administration
The MBA program at Mount Aloysius College prepares students to be leaders in a
global economy by integrating the instruction of several theories of management
such as marketing, finance and economics.
The 36 credit program includes 12 credits of the student’s selected area
of concentration: Accounting, Human Health Services Administration and Project
Management. The curriculum creates
ethical professionals with strong skills in problem solving, decision making
and the operations of business in volatile regulatory environments and global
settings. Mount Aloysius College MBA
graduates are business leaders who think strategically and communicate
effectively in professional settings, always acting under the Mercy Heritage of
Mount Aloysius College of moral principles, humanity and integrity.
Master of Arts: Criminal Justice Management in Correctional
Administration
The Master of Arts in Criminal Justice Management in Correctional
Administration offers a unique educational and career opportunity for professionals
in the criminal justice field and other related fields. The curriculum is designed to provide the
necessary preparation for career advancement to those working in corrections as
well as those working in other fields who would benefit from an advanced
degree. Guided by the mission of Mount
Aloysius College to serve the community at large, the program includes a social
justice focus. The curriculum consists
of 36 credits in which the student will choose one of two options: thesis option or a non-thesis option.
Master of
Science: Community Counseling
The Master of Science in Community Counseling at Mount Aloysius College
prepares students for national certification and professional licensure in the
state of Pennsylvania. The curriculum
delivers the skills required for employment in a variety of settings, including
private practice, mental health centers, drug/alcohol treatment facilities,
correctional institutions, child care centers, and health care
institutions. Mount Aloysius College
Community Counseling graduates are grounded in the values of hospitality,
service, mercy and justice, making them leaders in the field of counseling and
in the larger global community. The program
consists of 48 credits that also allow students to take an additional 12
credits in order to meet the 60 credit state regulation for licensure as a
professional counselor in Pennsylvania.
Master of Science in
General Psychology
The Master of Science in General Psychology at Mount Aloysius College is
designed for the individual employed in the field who aspires to enhance their
knowledge, skills and credentials for career advancement or for those students
who are seeking a gradual transition to doctoral level work. The Mount Aloysius College MSPY graduates
will have a strong foundation in research methodology, and knowledge in social,
developmental, cognitive, and personality psychology. The curriculum consists
of 36 credits in which the student will choose one of three options: thesis option, management option or elective
option. Students are exposed to
research, theory, and applications in most subfields of psychology.
Master of
Science: Education
The Master of Science in Education program at Mount Aloysius College provides
students with the skill set needed for masterful teaching. Students are given
the opportunity to engage in scholarly discourse with teachers from various
grade levels. Students will choose one
of three specializations for graduate work, including early childhood, special
education, and secondary education. Upon
completion of the 33 credit program, graduates will be reflective, masterful
teachers who are prepared for leadership roles, who are advocates for their
students, and who are scholarly professionals committed to positive change in
their classrooms and schools.
